{"id":12974,"date":"2016-03-08T12:29:31","date_gmt":"2016-03-08T11:29:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ies.solutions\/en\/?p=12974"},"modified":"2019-01-29T12:35:44","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T11:35:44","slug":"exercises-uk-fra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ies.solutions\/en\/exercises-uk-fra\/","title":{"rendered":"Civil Protection exercises in London and Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>London and Paris are testing their response capacity on disasters that can affect the cities.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12976\" src=\"https:\/\/ies.solutions\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/LFB_UnifiedResponse-300x129.jpg\" alt=\"LFB_UnifiedResponse\" width=\"300\" height=\"129\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ies.solutions\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/LFB_UnifiedResponse-300x129.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ies.solutions\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/LFB_UnifiedResponse.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the British capital, the London Fire Brigades hosted the exercise \u201cUnified Response\u201d from 29<sup>th<\/sup> February to 3<sup>rd<\/sup> March, based on a significant building collapse, incorporating heavy transport (underground) and mass casualties.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise has been conducted simultaneously at four separate venues, as well as at a disused power station, and all of London&#8217;s emergency response organisations including local and national authorities participated, together with specialised teams from across the UK and from Hungary, Italy and Cyprus. Moreover, the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC, part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism) will also take part and the exercise is designed to validate protocols and coordination arrangements.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12977\" src=\"https:\/\/ies.solutions\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sequana-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"sequana\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ies.solutions\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sequana-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/ies.solutions\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sequana.jpg 581w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Paris exercise, named \u201cSequana 2016\u201d will be held from 7<sup>th<\/sup> to 18<sup>th<\/sup> March, and will be based on a huge flood that hits \u00cele-de-France. It aims to enhance the cooperation between all the involved actors (including the EU Civil Protection Mechanism) and to increase awareness of the flood issue among the population.<\/p>\n<p>Sequana, hosted by the <em>Pr\u00e9fecture de police <\/em>of Paris, involves actors from different levels:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the EU Civil Protection Mechanism<\/li>\n<li>At national level, the <em>Centre Interminist\u00e9riel de Crise<\/em> (CIC &#8211; Interministerial Crisis Centre), part of Ministry of Interior<\/li>\n<li>Emergency service at regional, departmental and national level, including the prefectures affected by flood risk, which will activate their <em>Centre Op\u00e9rationnel D\u00e9partemental<\/em> (COD \u2013 Departmental Operational Centre)<\/li>\n<li>Local authorities (especially municipalities) that provide first-level emergency management<\/li>\n<li>Public and private stakeholders that want to test their prevention systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To learn more about Unified Response, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.london-fire.gov.uk\/exercise-unified-response.asp\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about Sequana 2016, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prefecturedepolice.interieur.gouv.fr\/Sequana\/EU-Sequana-2016\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>\u00a0(page in French).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>London and Paris are testing their response capacity on disasters that can affect the cities.
