New rules for COST participation. Since June 28, 2013 European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) has clarified and simplified the rules for participation in COST activities in order to make them more inclusive, user-friendly and responsive to scientists’ networking needs. New rules allow for a wider range of activities to be funded. In particular, the key innovations introduced by COST include; a harmonised set of four concise and coherent documents, which provide scientist with all the information necessary to obtain COST funding; emphasis on increasing inclusiveness and excellence; measures to increase participation by Near Neighbour Countries; and increased online processing meaning that most of the transactions relating to the networking activities supported by COST can now be processed fully online. http://www.cost.eu/media/cost_stories/COST-Simplifies-Participation
Call for SME-Researcher Partnership Grants “Connecting Australian-European Science and Innovation Excellence” (CAESIE) project offers priming grants to support potential SME-researcher partnerships in exploring the viability of an intended research and development (R&D) collaboration or technology solution. Priming grants are intended to reduce the financial risk on both sides to enter a collaboration proposal. CAESIE offers total funding of $10,000 payable in two stages to eligible SME-researcher partnerships for activities preparing cooperative, bi-continental R&D projects or facilitating technology solutions. Stage one and stage two priming grants will facilitate the initial stages of SME-research partnerships by offering modest funding associated with consortium meetings (travel-related costs) and assistance with minor project expenses. Priming grants are not designed to fund on-going research costs or to support existing collaborative activities. http://caesie.org/priming-grants-1
