A debate will take place on how to achieve Europe’s goal to become a global leader in innovation and how we can make innovation partnerships successful. The Summit also includes a three-day exhibition in the European Parliament, and a session on “Europe’s Future Nobel Prize Winner”, aiming to raise students’ interest in science and technology careers.
13 – 16 September 2010, Graz, Austria. Future BNCI conference. The conference includes 4 parallel workshops (BNCI@Home: Technical Barriers; Devices, Applications, and Users; Application Interfaces and Environments; Standards, Guidelines, and a Common Platform) which will address the following common issues: main problems/limitations of current technology; most promising/overrated directions; major roadblocks, challenges or opportunities; key stakeholders’ views; improving communication and collaboration.

This information day will offer the opportunity to share ideas and network with potential partners. 10 – 12 October 2010, Bruges, Belgium. First European Conference on Ergonomics. This event is organised by the Federation of the European Ergonomic Societies (FEES). Ageing will be the “red-thread” throughout the conference programme especially in terms of scientific and practical aspects in different applications: risks in man-machine-environment interfaces (such as transport, maintenance, emergencies), in securing jobs and employment, paying attention to re-employment and rehabilitation and in new forms of work and contents (e.g. ICT related) of which the implementation risks for elderly people are not yet known. The conference takes on the challenges to which policy-makers, scientists and ergonomists are confronted.
12 October 2010, European Parliament, Brussels. Towards enhanced eHealth governance: What next for cross border healthcare and further deployment of sustainable ICT applied to health? Ahead of the debates in the European Parliament and the Council on the Commission’s proposal for a directive on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, a high level event on an enhanced eHealth governance and next steps for cross border healthcare and further deployment of sustainable ICT applied to health is hosted by MEP Parvanova in the European Parliament from 9.00am until 12.45pm.

Consumers: Most internet sites now safe to buy electronic goods. Buying popular electronic goods like digital cameras and music players on the internet is now much safer following a crackdown on problematic websites. 84% of the websites selling electronics, checked for breach of EU consumer rules, now comply with EU law (compared with only 44% in 2009). The “sweep” investigation was launched in May 2009 and carried out by national authorities in 26 member states, Norway and Iceland. EU Agency identifies incentives & challenges for cyber security information sharing in Europe. ENISA, the European Network and Information Security Agency, launched a new report on barriers to and incentives for cyber security information sharing. The report shows for example that the economic incentives are much more important for practitioners than what academic literature indicate. La giornata nazionale delle PMI. Il prossimo 20 novembre avrà il suo battesimo il progetto istitutivo della giornata nazionale della Piccola e media imprese. Da quest’anno il 20 novembre diventerà una data da segnare con il pennarello rosso sul calendario per ogni piccolo e medio imprenditore. Poste Italiane annuncia il dominio.post. Poste Italiane ha identificato il suo futuro sul Web. Quando la posta tradizionale sparirà a vantaggio della maggior velocità e dei minori costi di gestione della posta elettronica, Poste Italiane intende esserci e recitare ancora un ruolo da protagonista. Per questo motivo Poste Italiane parla di sicurezza. Per questo motivo, inoltre, Poste Italiane lancia un nuovo dominio proprio e lo preannuncia dopo un incontro con l’ICANN. Riforma del Fondo di garanzia e nuove regole per i Confidi. Riforma del fondo di garanzia per le piccole e medie imprese e dei criteri di selezione dei Confidi. Il comitato di gestione del fondo di garanzia per le Pmi, che opera presso il ministero dello Sviluppo economico, ha infatti approvato la modifica dei criteri di autorizzazione dei Confidi e degli altri fondi di garanzia, per meglio certificare il merito di credito delle imprese beneficiarie. Proprietà industriale: in vigore il nuovo Codice. Dal 2 settembre è in vigore la riforma del Codice della Proprietà Industriale. L’obiettivo è potenziare la competitività del Paese, anche in relazione alla semplificazione delle procedure al contrasto della contraffazione.Il Codice regola l’oggetto del diritto di Proprietà Industriale, i requisiti per ottenerlo, gli effetti della tutela, la durata, i diritti e gli oneri ad essa connessi.
