On January 27, 2011 about two hundred children and teenegers of the “Istituto Statale Comprensivo” of Montelibretti participated to an experimental test which was held at the CNVVF training school in Montelibretti, within the SAVE ME European project.
The trial, organized by the fire brigades national body (CNVVF), IES Solutions and researchers by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, was aimed to test the behavior of children, disabled and elderly people (disadvantaged people in general) during indoor emergency situations. In particular, the experiment consisted in simulating the evacuation from labyrinths built into a tunnel with no light, with the help of handheld devices dinamically indicating the route to be taken or, alternatively, with the help of static signals. This allowed to test the effectiveness of a technological tool in the management of indoor emergencies.
