Industrial Risk

Industrial risk estimation in essence is base on the definition of accident scenarios and the modeling of the impact the accidents may have on neighboring areas. Many scenarios depend on meteorological parameters, like the air temperature, stability of atmospheric stratification and its seasonal development, wind direction and velocity. Finally, for the sake of a complete risk evaluation, so-called “demografical” and urban factors are accounted for, e. g., the type of edifices and the demografical characteristics of the population of the area of interest.
IES’s activities in the field of industrial risk assessment concern:

  • Preparation of models for industrial accidents
  • Creation of data bases with respect to meteorological data
  • Creation of GIS data bases related to the demografical situation
  • Probabilistic assessment of the impacts accidents may have on the population in the zones neighboring industrial plants
